Looking for the best places to visit in December in USA? These are the places you want to visit this month.
December is a great time to travel if you love the holidays and festive destinations. Some cities are extra magical, but it also draws more crowds.
It’s also perfect for snowbirds to escape the cold or if you’re from a hotter climate, it’s a good time to explore places that are way too hot any other time of year. I’m lookin at you, Death Valley.
This was by far the most popular spot we visited in Redwood National Park. If you feel like you’re in a scene of Jurrasic Park while walking through Fern Canyon, that’s because you are. They filmed scenes from The Lost World here.
The roughly one-mile trail follows Home Creek through the forest. You walk through modest streams while the vertical walls are covered in a variety of ferns (there are five different kinds) and other moisture-loving plants and mosses.
You can hike as little as 0.5 miles to see the pretty parts or up to 5 miles through the whole canyon. You can even connect it to trails that take you out of the canyon to see it from above.
Getting to the easiest trailhead is straightforward, but you have to drive on a dirt road for about 6.5 miles. There are a few spots where you have to navigate over streams and holes, one of which looked sketchy. Our sedan was able to make it through but only after following the example of another smaller car.
Other people got out of their cars trying to suss out if they could make it. If it recently rained, the streams may be deeper and unpassable. Check out driving directions here and road/trail conditions here.
We took an intro class, and it is a serious workout. It was so much fun, I even considered getting a pole for home (this is the one they recommend).
Sunny’s started as a small swimwear line sold at pool parties in 2017. After adding exotic dancewear, the business started to grow exponentially, which then led to a bigger space and offering pole fitness classes.
In January 2020, they moved to the Downtown Container Park and is a fitness studio and boutique. You can book a class, rent space to practice, or shop for dance and swimwear.
Cozy up and get a drink at the Minus5 Ice Bar where everything around you is covered in ice and your drinks are served in glasses made of ice. It’s the perfect escape from the Vegas heat.
This is our favorite location so far with icescapes of penguins, polar bears, and even a Star Wars section.
When we went, there were times it was empty, and there were times it was packed. Most people stayed for a drink and some photo opps, so the flow was sporadic.
They provide a jacket, hat, and gloves to keep you warm, but proper shoes are your responsibility. Read our tips below.
72 tent, trailer & RV campsites, 30 walk-in campsites, and another 13 backcountry sites
We took the Presencia kids camping in Cloudland Canyon, which was cool to see them experience camping for the first time. Ruthie made campfire brown bears, which was a first for me. Now, no camping trip feels complete without them.
I don’t know about you, but I’m all about chasing waterfalls, and this park has a stunner.
Activities: We can see why it’s a popular place to camp in Georgia. Not only is Cloudland Canyon is one of the most scenic and largest parks in the state, but you can also enjoy plenty of activities like biking, climbing, caving, hiking, disc golf, fishing, and more.
